What role does genetics play in the development of celiac disease?

Jefferson gastroenterologist and celiac specialist David Kastenberg, MD, of the Jefferson Celiac Center and genetic counselor Stephanie Winheld, MS, LCGC, will discuss the basics of genetics and the role of genetic counseling for those at risk of developing the autoimmune disease on Thursday, April 3 starting at 8 p.m. during a free webinar hosted by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA).

Did you know that having the genetic factors associated with celiac disease is one of the most important risk factors for developing celiac disease? Dr. Kastenberg and Ms. Winheld explore that issue and answer your questions during the webinar.

NFCA seeks to raise awareness of celiac disease to help those with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity improve their quality of life.

Registered dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs) who participate in the live webinar can earn continuing education credits.
