Dr. Rosenwasser
Neurosurgeon Robert H. Rossenwasser, MD, FACS, FAHA, chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Jefferson has been awarded the American Association of Neurological Surgeons’ Cushing Award for Technical Excellence and Innovation in Neurosurgery.
The award is given to recognize “technical prowess and skill and/or innovation in the development of new procedures that have become part of the arsenal neurosurgeons use to treat disease or trauma.”
Over his twenty-nine year career, Dr. Rosenwasser has become one of the country’s foremost experts in endovascular neurosurgery, a minimally-invasive technique used to treat neurovascular diseases such as stroke.
Dr. Rosenwasser has played a key role in establishing the Jefferson Neuroscience Network links patients and doctors at regional hospitals with Jefferson specialists who have the expertise to diagnose time sensitive neurological disorders and who have helped to develop some of today’s leading minimally-invasive procedures for treating brain tumors, brain aneurysms, AVMs and strokes.
With thousands of synapses linking each of your neurons, connections are everything when it comes to the brain. And how well your neurologist or neurosurgeon is connected is important, too. That’s why Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience – the region’s only hospital dedicated to neurosurgery and neurology – has established the Jefferson Neuroscience Network.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Rosenwasser on earning this honor from his peers.
